This week we view fireworks from a new perspective, realize how young our country really is, and remember how fortunate we are to live here.
One thing you missed this weekend
“Cool fireworks video, dude.” - said nobody ever. Unless of course you’re talking about the post above. Many of us who watched fireworks over the weekend noticed the red and green blinking lights of our little drone friends, worrying they’d be blasted to pieces by fireworks or that they were getting too close to our house. I loved seeing this new perspective on something we’ve all seen a hundred times.
Happy 248th Birthday, Fam.
Sometimes I think we forget how lucky we are to live in the United States. Never before in human history has a culture been so coddled and at the same time so unhappy. We have every luxury, every opportunity, and a chance every day to become who we wish, while sharing our thoughts freely. We take America for granted, assuming it’s always been here and always will be here. If you’re 65 or older, you’ve been alive for more than 26% of America’s ENTIRE history. For those who fought for us then, and for those who still do so today, we owe you. The sooner we forget why America even exists today, the sooner it will disappear.
Whether it’s reading and learning about the history of the world and our country, or the history of your own family, it’s so deeply important that we know where we came from. It is not an accident that you are here and it’s up to us all today to pass on the truth, wisdom, and legacies to those who come after us.
One thing to think about this week
What piece of your own history needs to be passed down to your kids and grandkids?
You are the sole survivor. Thousands of your relatives worked and died to ensure you had a better life than they did. How are you telling their story? How are you telling your own story? And will you regret not passing the torch to the next generation.
